I am a post graduate doctoral student at The University of Manchester. I am working on developing high entropy alloys for fusion applications. I come from a background in chemistry and chose to uptake a gap year after my undergraduate studies. During my gap year, I saw, first hand, how different and difficult life can be based upon the simple and random allocation as to where you are born in the world. Having recognised the unfair distribution of resources, education and life quality around the world- I would like to dedicate my research career to addressing as many of the 17 sustainable global goals as i can (https://www.globalgoals.org/goals/) throughout my lifetime.

Life as we know it simply cannot function without a reliable and sustainable energy source, and many of the 17 goals cannot move forward without sustainable energy. Which was one of the many reasons I chose to begin my research career on the fusion CDT.
