After completing a Master’s degree in Physics at Durham University, I am now undertaking a joint research project between Durham and CCFE under the supervision of Prof Ray Sharples and Dr Nick Hawkes. The project focuses primarily on plasma diagnostics and uses Motional Stark Effect (MSE) measurements on MAST-U to determine the structure of the magnetic field and distribution of current inside tokamak plasmas. One of the possible extensions to this work will be to use coherence imaging to create a 2D MSE diagnostic, which is currently being developed for other tokamaks such as K-STAR in South Korea.
