Having completed a MEng degree in Materials Science, I am now studying for a DPhil on the Fusion CDT researching “silicon carbide for fusion applications”. This will involve improving the reaction bonding technique for making near net shape silicon carbide components, such as pipes for the breeding blanket, and other structural components. The properties of these specimens will be tested before and after irradiation using various techniques including micromechanical testing. This project is supervised by Prof Steve Roberts, and Dr David Armstrong.
Alexander is now a CDT Alumnus
