6th December 2017 – Fusion Open Day at Culham

Each year the Fusion CDT collaborates with Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) to organise an open day for prospective postgraduate students. While Fusion is the headline topic, this spans many research areas that encompass plasma physics, materials science, instrumentation and advanced engineering/technologies. It links to fields as diverse as astrophysics, advanced manufacturing and nuclear energy.

This year’s event will take place at CCFE in Oxfordshire on Wednesday 6th December 2017. Several leading universities will attend to describe PhD and Masters opportunities in fusion and related research. Prospective postgraduate students, academics and existing postgraduates will come together to discuss their research and the opportunities that will be available for students in 2018/9.

Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) hosts the European flagship facility JET, as well as the UK’s spherical tokamak, MAST Upgrade and the new Materials Research Facility. This event therefore provides a great opportunity to not only find out about what the UK has to offer in fusion training (including our Fusion Centre for Doctoral Training programme), but also gives a flavour of where a career in fusion energy research might take you beyond your postgraduate degree.

Registration is open now at www.culhamphd.org.uk

We look forward to meeting you there!
