I am a D.Phil student working under David Armstrong and Angus Wilkinson. My project is on characterizing the radiation damage in High Entropy Alloys. These are near equiatomic multi-component alloys with a low number of phases and no short range order. Their unique microstructure may afford them a resistance to radiation damage such as defect clustering and induced hardening.
This project will involve irradiating samples, then using nanoindentation to analyze the mechanical properties and electron microscopy to determine any mechanisms that are reducing detrimental impact on the materials mechanical properties.
