After studying for my MPhys in Mathematics and Physics at the University of York, I decided to apply for the Fusion CDT and will be studying tokamak divertor plasmas at the University of Liverpool. My research will be based around the differences in key areas between comprehensive modelling codes that predict detachment and observations of detachment. I will be researching the plasma conditions at the divertor surfaces to provide the experimental evidence and understanding required to solve this problem, combining knowledge of fusion plasmas and non-fusion low-temperature plasmas.
