Alexander Blair

Durham University

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Durham working under the supervision of Prof. Damian Hampshire. I am investigating the mechanism that determines the critical current density in high field polycrystalline superconductors using simulations based on time-dependent Ginzburg–Landau theory, and will also be investigating the square flux-line-lattice observed in highly magnetic superconductors. This work has importance in optimising the critical current density of superconductors in high field technological applications, such as for fusion energy, where observed critical current densities are typically less than 1% of the theoretical limit.
Alexander is now a Fusion CDT Alumnus.
